German Film History

The tradition of Adlershof as a location for film and television is connected with the history and development of the PROGRESS film distribution agency. The first film studios were established here at the end of the First World War. Legendary film classics like, „The Crimes of Dr. Mabuse“ were filmed there. Starting in 1952, GDR Television began broadcasting from the studios of the former borough of Treptow.
Murder-mysteries, „The Sandman“ or the former news program „Aktuelle Kamera“ flickered from Adlershof into the living rooms of East Germany.
