Working at BESSY II, a large scale research facility in Adlershof – Lab Tour and Career Talk
Thursday, 16. February 2023 // 15.00 - 16.00
WiNS Adlershof (Women in Natural Sciences)
Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, BESSY II
What exactly does a postdoc do at a research institute? What scientific questions does he or she want to address? What is their daily work routine? During our regular Lab Tours, female postdocs provide insight into their jobs. They also tell us about their career path: How did they get there? And what do they envision for their professional future?
This time, Dr. Maryline Ralaiarisoa, a scientist from the Institute for Solar Fuels at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin, will give an overview of her research areas. She works at the BESSY-II synchrotron facility where she conducts experiments at the SpAnTeX (Spectroscopic Analysis with Tender X-rays) end-station. The tour includes a guided visit of the research facility.
Dr. Maryline Ralaiarisoa started at HZB in 2020 after a first postdoc position in France for the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique (CNRS) at the Institut Photovoltaique d'Île-de- France (IPVF). She studied and completed her doctoral dissertation in Physics at the Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin in 2019. Her topics of interest are focused on the investigation of materials for solar energy systems, particularly of their surface and interface properties by using photoelectron spectroscopy.
The lab tour is aimed at female PhD students, postdocs and master‘s students and will be held in English.
