The POLYDAYS 2019 conference focuses on the transformation of material research by digital technologies. Through enabling new impetus for the design of application-motivated materials, digital solutions play a key role in addressing future societal changes. Functional and structural material systems are now being designed by calculating their properties starting from microscopic theories, using electronic structure calculations and molecular dynamics simulations in a wide range of length and time scales. The ability not only to model but also to predict the behavior of materials based on their composition, microstructure, method of processing, and interactions will be within the scope of future materials research.

The conference aims at engaging people from across international research in the discussion of recent trends, latest breakthroughs as well as challenges of the digitalization in polymer research. It will comprise interdisciplinary sessions with internationally recognized experts, several invited talks on impactful research, and a poster session of talented young researchers presenting their projects’ potential for a digitally influenced future research.

Confirmed plenary speakers:

  • Amanda Barnard, CSIRO, Melbourne, Australia
  • Andrew I. Cooper, University of Liverpool, UK
  • Jean-François Lutz, CNRS-Institute Charles Sadron, Strasbourg, France
  • E. W. (Bert) Meijer, Eindhoven University of Technology, Netherlands
