Quantum spin-liquids (QSLs) are exotic states of matter formed when conventional magnetic order is suppressed by quantum fluctuations and which produce signature fractionalized quasi-particle excitations. Low-spin kagome antiferromagnets represent ideal systems to realize these states due to their combination of strong quantum fluctuations and maximal geometric frustration. In this presentation I will introduce structural and magnetic properties of the novel S=1 kagome antiferromagnet ND4Ni2V2O7(OD)2.D2O, a candidate QSL material.


These lectures are free and can be attended via Zoom by to up to 100 attendees.

The lectures will be recorded as well, and (with permission of the presenter) will be made available online afterwards for a broader educational reach.
