Living and breathing urbanity

Adlershof is constantly growing

Today, a growing majority of the global population lives in cities. City life has become an ideal, offering an urban atmosphere which not only permits, but actually enhances the diversity of different structures, utilisations and, above all, people and their lifestyles. Geographically and socially, urban life functions within a well-networked fabric centered around spaciousness, intercultural exchange, nature, as well as all the advantages a city has to offer for those who want to make flexible life choices. In short, it offers an intensity of experience that can only be achieved and enjoyed on the basis of a well-wrought concept.

The science, business and media location of Adlershof is such a pocket of urbanity, a   thoroughly conceived, well-functioning unity optimally connected with the capital's hubs including Berlin's eastern and western city centers, the airport and the A10 (Berliner Ring) motorway. Constantly growing, Adlershof is home to ten nonuniversity research institutes, six Humboldt University departments and more than 1,000 enterprises. On a daily basis, nearly 25,000 people come here to work, do research or pursue their academic studies.

Recent cornerstone projects include the completion of the motorwayconnection in 2005, the re-opening of the S-Bahn station in 2012 and the ongoing development of the Rudower Chaussee commercial thoroughfare by service-oriented private investors. In addition, the "Wohnen am Campus" residential district with its accomodations individuaay tailored to more than 2,500 residents further enhances the appeal od the innovative, leavy and vibrant location.

The sale oft he property nearby oak grove right next tot he S-Bahn station marks one of the most recent successes geared to enhance living quality in Adlershof. Stateof- the-art office and commercial buildings are being constructed here, while a new restaurant will profit from the top location bordering on the adjacent small park.

About to be completed, the further development of the sustainably-built office and commercial complex by Hamburg-based Europa-Center AG is another success story. To add the final touch, the investor will tackle the uptown office and business complex on Adlershof's sophisticated Forum square.

Moreover, Berliner Immobilienmanagement GmbH (BIM) is currently negotiating a potential location of the Berlin-Brandenburg State Laboratory (LLBB) on the construction site by the intersection of Wegedornstraße and Rudower Chaussee near Audi centre. The State Laboratory would make an ideal addition to the location's existing technology clusters. Enhancing Adlershof's campus character, another student housing project, this time on Rudower Chaussee, is currently being negotiated with a project developer. On the ground floor levels, convenience stores are planned for the benefit of employees and residents.

Furthermore, plan approval procedures for the extension of the tramway network are well underway, facilitating the connection to Schöneweide S-Bahn station via Hermann-Dorner-Allee and Groß-Berliner Damm before the end of the decade.

Adlershof is growing and thriving, living and breathing urbanity in an exemplary fashion. Residents and visitors alike can convince themselves of the diversity of ist work, leisure and recreation opportunities.

The development of the Science and Technology Park Berlin Adlershof was and is co-financed by the European Union namely by EFRE. This concerns infrastructure development like construction of technology centres. Furthermore EFRE is used for international projects.
