OptecNet Germany moves to Berlin
Umbrella organisation for optical technologies with new headquarters at the IGZ Adlershof
OptecNet Germany has relocated its headquarters to Berlin. With its new location, the association aims to be closer to federal policymakers and strengthen its dialogue with ministries and other key stakeholders. The goal is to represent the interests of the photonics and quantum technologies community more effectively and help shape innovation-friendly and competitive framework conditions.

The Executive Board – Dr. Andreas Ehrhardt (Managing Director of Photonics BW e.V.), Dr. Adrian Mahlkow (Managing Director of OpTecBB e.V.) and Nora Kirsten (Managing Director of OptoNet e.V.) – looks forward to further developing the association's activities from Berlin and creating new momentum for the photonics community.
OptecNet Germany connects companies, research institutions and other stakeholders across the photonics sector. The association promotes technology transfer, supports innovation, contributes to attracting and developing skilled talent, and helps companies – particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) – expand into international markets. At the same time, it advocates for political and economic framework conditions that foster innovation and competitiveness.
This year also marks a special milestone: the 25th anniversary of OptecNet Germany. The non-profit umbrella organization was founded in 2001 with the support of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) to bring together and strengthen Germany's regional photonics competence networks.
Today, OptecNet Germany brings together eight regional innovation networks in photonics and quantum technologies, representing around 600 member organizations from industry and academia. With this strong network, OptecNet Germany is the largest photonics association in Germany and a leading platform for collaboration, innovation and technology transfer.
