TOPTICA EAGLEYARD powers the LISA Space Mission
Adlershof company supplies tailor-made laser diode system for satellite project
Renowned for its expertise in providing suitable laser diodes for space applications, TOPTICA EAGLEYARD once again plays a vital role in a major space mission. The Laser Interferometer Space Antenna (LISA), led by the European Space Agency ESA, will be the first space-based observatory dedicated to studying gravitational waves. It is made possible by a collaboration between ESA, its member states, NASA, and an international consortium of scientists. NASA selected EAGLEYARD’s Ridge Waveguide (RWL) 808 nm laser diode as the pump source for the µNPRO main oscillator, recognizing its “unique performance”, as Dr. Anthony Yu, NASA Goddard’s lead for the LISA Laser System, stated. Extensive aging tests confirmed in addition the diodes’ exceptional reliability, paving the way for the production of Flight Modules in 2026.
EAGLEYARD’s CEO Claus Heitmann emphasizes: “We are proud to contribute our expertise and innovative products to this extraordinary mission with NASA demonstrating the power of collaboration and trust across borders. As a Berlin-based high-tech company, it is a special honor to be part of this visionary partnership and to drive excellence in the most demanding space applications.”
