Sangeeta Sharma is an ideal mentor for young women who have not yet decided whether they want to study physics. Foto: MBI

Growing up in Delhi, India, the physicist dreamed of working as an engineer like her father. As she became older, she discovered her passion for theoretical aspects and began studying physics. Today, she is very grateful to be able to turn her hobby into a career and find answers to questions about the why behind things. She currently works as a professor for solid state physics at FU-Berlin jointly with MBI-Berlin.
Having a 10-year-old daughter, she knows that many girls do not consider a career in STEM subjects. And that is something she would like to change by making STEM subjects more attractive to female students.
