Promoting young talent and STEM projects for pupils and teachers in Berlin

[Translate to English:] Angebote für SChüler: Zwei Jungen präsentieren lachend ihre Installation aus Lego.

The shortage of non-academic skilled workers in Germany is increasing. For demographic reasons, there are fewer young people and many skilled workers are retiring. And when it comes to choosing a career, the trend is towards university studies. However, this is not a prerequisite for professional success. Whereas school students used to apply to companies, today companies apply to young people.

The focus here is on the so-called STEM formats. At the Adlershof Technology Park, we take care of the next generation of scientists, both for the university sector and for dual training. Specialized training networks, school labs and numerous events for children and young people make Adlershof an experience for the younger generation – and your partner for securing our young talent.

What actually is “STEM”…? You can find out with these offers

“STEM” – what exactly is it all about? And who should consider it? If you’ve always wanted to know whether science, technology, engineering and mathematics could play a role in your future career choice, then we have a few good tips for you. And lots of exciting events and addresses:

  • National “Jugend forscht” competition: The Berlin-South regional competition is held in Adlershof.
  • Long Night of Science: Adlershof science institutions open their doors.
  • Girls’ Day: Companies and institutes give an insight into everyday working life on Girls’ Day.
  • School trips and guided tours of the Technology Park for school classes
  • Mathematische Schülergesellschaft “Leonhard Euler”: Solving puzzles at Humboldt-Universität.
  • Humboldt Explorers: Pupils become researchers within their school.
  • Kangaroo of Mathematics: International mathematics competition for all grades

And you can get a full overview of the well-equipped Adlershof school labs here …

Become a partner for the extracurricular promotion of STEM skills!

WISTA Management GmbH is committed to promoting young talent in science-based professions. One basis for this is the linking of education with business practice to promote specialist knowledge and cognitive skills in the STEM subjects of mathematics, information technology, natural sciences and technology.

The EU project “STEAM Learning Ecologies (SLE)” is specifically concerned with the development of extracurricular STEM offerings to promote mathematical and scientific skills. The collaboration between schools, universities and companies in Adlershof aims to get pupils interested in STEM subjects, strengthen their skills and provide them with both academic and career guidance.

The partnership between schools, universities, companies and research centers on campus helps to strengthen the link between education and industry. In this way, young talents are prepared in the best possible way for the challenges of the future.

We are looking for teachers and entrepreneurs who would like to support these projects. Please get in touch with:

For trainees

On an excursion to the training alliance: a teacher talking to a pupil. Other pupils stand in the background.

The High Technology Education and Training Network (ANH) focuses on the topic of "dual training". The ANH, based at the Ferdinand-Braun-Institut (FBH), connects companies, research institutions, vocational schools, universities, social partners and other multipliers.

In 2019, the association proANH e.V. was also founded to support its members in recruiting trainees as well as in training and further education. To this end, various events are also held to inform young people, parents and teachers about dual training courses and a wide range of opportunities for further training. Pupils can apply directly for internships and courses in the joint school laboratory MicroLAB. Interested teachers are offered guided tours for school classes, which provide insights into everyday working life in high-tech professions.

The Vocational Training Centre for Chemistry (bbz Chemie) at Bildungswerk Nordostchemie e.V. organizes industry-related training in the chemical and pharmaceutical industry.

The annual Training Alliance Adlershof offers a good opportunity for pupils from year 9 onwards to get to know training companies and professional fields in the high-tech sector at the Adlershof Science and Technology Park.

For prospect students

Students sit on a bench and go through their notes together.

Humboldt-Universität (HU) cooperates with Berlin schools within the framework of numerous programs. This cooperation in the area of STEM promotion has a long tradition at HU.

Pupils learn at the university, listen to lectures, experiment in laboratories and explore the library.

At the university as a place of learning, they can gain experience and orient themselves professionally. At the same time, they experience the campus and get to know study procedures, university teachers and students as part of their school lessons.

  • Offers for pupils at the HU
  • General information from the HU for prospect students
  • Compass central contact point for prospective students
  • Open days at the HU

The bbw University of Applied Sciences would also like to show pupils the opportunities that arise after the Abitur: Orientation program of the bbw university
